Adopt a Golden Lion Tamarin family group and help to save the species from extinction

How does it work the adoption?
People, private companies and zoos can adopt a family of golden lion tamarins. The funds raised are used in the researches and monitoring the species and its habitat, beyond supporting to the community environmental education and outreach and habitat restoration.

What is the required contribution?
The adoptions are done through a donation to the AMLD in the amount of R$15.000 (national adoptions) and US $5,000 (international adoptions) per family during one year. The adopter and AMLD will sign a donation agreement setting up the financial reports on the donated resources. The adopter can choose which kind of action would like to support.

Why is this contribution required?
Because to study and save species from extinction demand long term investments, mainly when working with mammals. We do need specialized professionals; daily movements in large distances; we need equipments, vehicles, food supply to the reintroduced lion tamarins among other that make our reasearch and operation costs high.

mico-leão-dourado Is it possible to adopt only one tamarin instead a whole family group?
As the golden lion tamarins are social animals, it means that they live on family groups similar to the human being, they don't know how to live alone in the forest and only survive under the family protection. Then, the adoption refers to the whole family.

Can the adopters give a name to the family?
Usually, all the golden lion tamarins family groups that are studied and monitored by the AMLD's researchers, have a name that can have relation to the site where the group lives, a person, or even to the circunstances under which the group was formed. In case the adopter doesn't choose an existent group, we can wait a new group and the name will be given by the adopter.

What is the advantage on the adoption?
Beyond the pleasure on helping save the tamarins from extinction, the adopter will be divulged on the AMLD website as well as in the printed materials related to the adoption project (with the agreement of the adopter). It can visit the adopted family twice a year. Will also receive an Adoption Certificate with the name of adopted family, and an Adoption Kit with a bag, 4 exclusive T-shirts, 4 pins and 4 keyholders, and during all the adoption period, will receive reports on the adopted family dinamics and the annual report of the AMLD.
